Wine School at Dumfries House

In partnership with Dumfries House www.dumfries-house.co.uk we are delighted to announce the launch of Wine School at Dumfries House.  The School will offer a regular programme of evening events and one-day courses held in the beautiful surroundings of Dumfries House.

Nestling within 2000 acres of scenic Ayrshire countryside, this beautiful Palladian mansion has been described as an 18th century time-capsule with many of its principal rooms and their contents virtually unchanged for over 250 years.

The school will be officially opened at our special launch event on Saturday 14^th February 2009 and will comprise a guided tour of the house followed by a two hour introduction to wine and wine tasting entitled ‘The Royal Variety Show’.

Price per person is £55.

Evening Events

The school's programme of evening events offers an excellent introduction to understanding wine.  The series of two-hour tastings gives a fascinating insight into the countries, regions and grape varieties that produce many of the classic wines of the world.

Price per person per event is £35.

Mastering the Wine List

On selected Saturdays throughout 2009, we will be running the specially designed introductory one-day workshop ‘Mastering the Wine List’. Through the tasting of 18 classic wines, the course aims to provide you with the essential knowledge and practical tasting experience in wine to increase your confidence in the interpretation of restaurant wine lists. The course will leave you feeling confident in understanding what wines you like, why you like them and how to select wine to match with food.

Cost per person £150 which includes a buffet luncheon and refreshments.
