How do I know which course is right for me?

What can I expect when attending a class?

The format of a class includes a review session, a discussion on the subject and a tasting of 5 to 6 wines relevant to the discussion subject. Some classes include videos.

If I register for a course can I be sure it will go ahead?

Yes! Case Studies wine School has a policy not to cancel any published courses. For further information see our terms and conditions.

When is the deadline for registration for a course?

The last opportunity to join a course is described in the course programme as the registration deadline. The deadline date will have been carefully decided to ensure that the candidate joining at this point will not have missed so much of the course that they will not be able to make the most out of the course.

What level of participation is required?

As much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

How do I pay for the course?

By cheque, payable to Case Studies Wine School or by debit or credit card, by calling 0131 228 8366. If you are a trade customer we are able to invoice your employer, call 0131 228 8366 for more information.

What do I need to bring to class?

Your study guide, 6 x ISO tasting glasses, a spittoon (or appropriate vessel, a flower pot will do!), a pen and notebook.  ISO tasting glasses are available to purchase from Case Studies Wine School at £14 per box of six.

What preparation is required before attending the course?

After week one, it is advisable to ensure that you have read the material for the appropriate session before attending the class. 

What happens if I need to miss a class or classes?

Let your course tutor know and they will make sure you have all the information you need to study for the class in your own time. For level 3 it is advised that you miss no more than 4 classes, for level 2 it is advised that you miss no more than 2 classes.

How much home study time is required between classes?

Recommended home study for level 3 is 6 hours per week.
Recommended home study for level 2 is 3 hours per week.

What study materials will I be given?

The WSET study pack appropriate for the level of course you are undertaking ... 




Level 2 Intermediate Certificate Study Pack includes the WSET Intermediate Certificate Course Textbook - Wines & Spirits, Looking Behind the Label, the study guide and course specification.

 

 

 

Level 2 Professional Certificate Study Pack includes Distilling Knowledge - A Professional Guide to Spirits and Liqueurs, the study guide and course specification.





 

Level 2 Professional Certificate Study Pack includes WSET Advanced Certificate Course Textbook - Exploring the World of Wines & Spirits, the study guide and course specification.




 
You will be given a password to access the student login page on www.casestudieswineschool.co.uk that contains all the Powerpoint presentations and review papers.

Case Studies Wine School have negotiated reduced rates on subscriptions to The Drinks Business and Purple Pages.

How can I find out if there are spaces available on a course?

What if my chosen course is full?

You will have the option of being placed on the course waiting list. If a candidate does not take their place or leaves the course before the registration deadline you will be offered their place.

What if I find that the course level is unsuitable for me?

Simply disucss this with your course tutor and if appropriate Case Studies Wine School will transfer you onto the next appropriate course.

What if at the end of the course I do not feel ready to take the exam?

Talk to your course tutor.  It is possible to defer to a future examination session. Examination sessions are held four times a year. For more information please see our terms and conditions.
